The five-year-old stayer has placed in five of her last six starts, culminating in a comeback victory in the $40,000 Federal on Sunday.

The Canberra-based trainer will send Supulchre to Royal Randwick for her final run of her preparation in what will be the biggest race in her career.

"She's a nice mare and is just starting to put it all together," Ible said.

"In time, she may end up being the sort of horse which can race in Sydney consistently.

"There's a 2400 metre benchmark 70 race on Boxing Day, it was always the intention she'd head there if she ran well.

"She has all the mileage in the legs she needs and will head there with minimal work."

Sepulchre beat the Keith Dryden-trained Waiheke by 3.31 lengths despite a slow start to the 2000 metre race.

She lagged behind until the 600 metre mark, where she then surged past her competitors to claim first place. After all, slow and steady wins the race.

"There was good speed in the race and that's when she's most effective, when she can relax and sprint over the top," Ible said.

But that's when Ible's luck stalled. Six-year-old Brussels reared when the gates opened for the class one handicap, finishing 8.46 lengths behind winner Who's Shout.
