Four fires to the north and east of Strathgordon started as the result of dry lightning strikes on December 21.

The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service said the fires were hit hard and fast by PWS remote area crews with the assistance of air support.

"The proximity of the Gordon Dam assisted in quickly suppressing the fire activity," the PSW said.

The PWS said three of the fires, Twelve Tree, Prince of Wales Range and Innes High Rocky, were now showing no visible flame or smoke.

The fourth fire at Pearce Basin still has hot spots of activity being addressed by firefighters.

A further infra-red scan of the fires will be conducted to confirm if any hot or active fires remain.

All six fires in the South are listed as "No Alert" status on the Tasmania Fire Service website.

The Jeffrey's Track fire was contained through the effective use of aircraft water somber followed up by the rapid response of local brigades. The fire was extinguished and will be monitored over the coming days before being declared out.

The Swansea fire at McNeill's road which has burned through 4913 hectares is under control with all remaining fire activity contained within its boundaries.

"A forward looking infrared equipped helicopter has flown around its perimeter several times over the last few days and identified and mapped hotspots still requiring attention," the TFS said.

"Ground crews with helicopter support are continuing works to blackout identified hotspots within the burnt area."

The TFS said a statewide total fire ban will likely be announced for Sunday and Monday.

"The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that rising temperatures are expected through the weekend headed by a front bringing the possibility of more dry lightning strikes," the TFS said.

"TFS are requesting the general public ensure that any fires they currently have are completely extinguished before the weekend and to remain vigilant and report any smoke sightings."

Tasmanians are asked to think about how this may affect their plans, especially for campfires.
