The man, 28, died in hospital on Boxing Day, after he was initially taken to hospital in a critical condition earlier this month.
He is the sixth person to die on ACT roads in 2019.
The man crashed into a tree near the corner of Hindmarsh Drive and Melrose Drive in Lyons about 6.20am on December 14.
The driver was the only person in the car at the time of the incident, and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital.
The crash forced the closure westbound lanes on Hindmarsh Drive for several hours.
ACT police's collision investigation and reconstruction team are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
