Joe Daniel Rose, 28, of Kambah was arrested in September after a police chase through Tuggeranong. He later tried to escape custody at the hospital, damaging doors and injuring two people, including a hospital wardsman.
Rose pleaded guilty on Wednesday to 12 charges including causing grievous bodily harm, riding a stolen motorbike, possessing a prohibited firearm and ammunition, escaping arrest and other driving offences.
Documents previously tendered to the court say Rose was spotted by police riding around Wanniassa on a Honda CBR450F motorcycle.
The motorcycle was missing a rear number plate and, as police followed the bike, officers saw Mr Rose drive through a red light and through a pedestrian crossing, causing two elderly people to jump backwards to avoid being hit.
When the officers switched on their lights and began a pursuit, Rose sped up and tried to escape over a gutter but was thrown from the motorbike.
He tried to punch the officers as they tried to arrest him and they used a stun gun to subdue him.
They found a Fabrique Nationale semi automatic pistol and five hollow point cartridges in Rose's possession.
Rose was taken to the Canberra Hospital for treatment after falling off the motorbike.
While under guard by two officers, Rose managed to escape out a rear door and while wardsmen and officers tried to restrain him he fought back and injured the two people and damaged a set of sliding doors.
Rose was eventually brought back into custody and has remained in custody since his arrest.
He will return to court in February and will be sentenced in the Galambany circle sentencing court.
