Todd Rohl, who was CEO while Smith was mayor, and the council's current manager for economic development and strategy, David Radich, are both due to give evidence.in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.

Smith is facing corruption and perjury charges following a Crime and Corruption Commission investigation while he was mayor.

His ex-wife Andrea Millberry-Smith told the court on Thursday she believed a boat at the centre of corruption allegations was a straightforward purchase.

The boat was bought from a former director of company SKL Cables who donated to Smith's 2016 election campaign.

SKL Cables also had a development application for a 15-storey hotel to be built at Springwood when the council's height regulation was 10 storeys.

Ms Millberry-Smith said the boat was not a sweetener to push the development application through, and the pair had to spend thousands of dollars repairing the vessel.

"It had been for sale but it was in a state of disrepair," she said.

"The inside was filthy and neglected."

The court also heard evidence from David Hansen on Tuesday, who was development assistance manager in 2015 and 2016.

He told the court while SKL Cables had put in an application for a 15-storey hotel, the council was keen on accepting a 10-storey building unless certain guidelines were met.

When asked in court, Mr Hansen said Smith never tried to pressure anyone in his team to allow SKL Cables to build a 15-storey building.
