The ACT Brumbies rookie made sure her first game was a memorable one, scoring the first try of the season in a strong win on Saturday afternoon.

The Brumbies beat Rugby WA 29-10 at Canberra Stadium, giving their six debutants the perfect start to their careers.

Fyfe was one of those, deciding to give Super W a crack at 33 years old to make sure she wasn't left wondering 'what if'.

She makes the five-hour trip from Lake Cargellico to Canberra sometimes twice per week to train and play.

The prop is used to the distance, previously driving four hours to Bathurst to play club rugby.

But it was all worth it when she crashed over in the opening minutes of the game.

"I didn't want to die wondering if I was ever good enough. I'm lucky I've got good family to back me and push me to do it," Fyfe said.

"I'd never had the opportunity with work until now. It's a bit of a getaway. It was exciting ... definitely different than playing 10s at home."

Coach Adam Butt added: "She's been around for a while in NSW Country and decided to give it a crack. We're glad she did. She's as tough as nails, anyone who drives eight hours to training is good in my book."

The Brumbies got off to a flying start in the four-game Super W campaign, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes and then grinding their way to a win.

Rebecca Smyth and Louise Burrows scored first-half tries before Darcy Read put the result beyond doubt.

Butt was happy with how his team started, but said there was plenty of room for improvement for the clash against the Melbourne Rebels next week.

"We're happy with the result, this competition is tough because it's so short, so if you don't get a win straight up you're in big trouble," Butt said.

"Lots to work on, which is always the case. But I'm glad for the girls because of the work put in.

"This competition has closed up a lot. The Rebels have improved a lot and they're a tough task for us."
