The Queensland Reds secured hosting rights for the semi-final clash after beating the Brumbies 24-12 at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

The Super W clubs are slate to meet again in Brisbane next week, with the winner to face the undefeated NSW Waratahs on March 28.

But Brumbies coach Adam Butt is unsure whether the final series will take place after the federal government advised gatherings of 500 people or more should be cancelled to limit the spread of coronavirus.

"I don't know if next week is happening, no one really knows what space we're in at the moment," Butt said.

"Once we find out the information, we'll know where we stand.

"It's business as usual and we'll leave that stuff to everyone else. We'll continue to train and just do our job."

The Brumbies will be without star No.8 Tayla Stanford for the semi-final clash, after she was ruled out of the season with her second ACL tear in 12 months.

They'll also be sweating on the fitness of Peta Cox, who came off in the second-half with a calf injury.

But there's still plenty of positives for the Brumbies after they kept Queensland try-less until the 43^rd minute.

Butt's outfit started strong and took an early lead thanks to a Ema Masi try, with the flanker barreling over in the 17^th minute.

It came off the back of a Samantha Wood break down the middle, instigating a quick passage of play from scrumhalf Jane Garraway through to the wing.

The Reds fought back with two quick tries on either side of halftime, before Masi scored a double to keep the Brumbies in the match.

But a Shannon Mato try put the result beyond doubt, with the Brumbies left to rue what could have been their best finish to the competition.

"Our scramble defence was good but our first-up defence could have been better. We needed to chop the bigger players in the legs more and take ground to slow down the ball," Butt said.

"I think our set pieces were exploited a bit more, so we can take that forward next week. We know we can win in that area.

"The main difference between us and them was effort areas, we probably respected them a bit too much.

"But I think our younger girls really stepped up on Saturday. I threw them into the fire for the final minutes and it's really pleasing to see them grow in confidence and stature."
