Mohammad Rezwani, 26, has been behind bars since being arrested in the early hours of March 4.
When he first appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court that morning, he was remanded in custody after being charged with aggravated burglary, intentionally threatening to kill, and theft.
A fresh charge of taking a motor vehicle without authority was laid on Thursday, when the court heard Mr Rezwani would plead not guilty to all four counts.
Police allege that about 11pm on March 3, Mr Rezwani knocked on the door of another unit at the Taylor complex where he lived, and accused a man who opened the door of damaging his car in the underground car park.
The man denied being responsible for the damage and told Mr Rezwani his brother might be to blame, according to allegations in documents tendered to the court earlier this month.
Mr Rezwani allegedly replied that he was going to kill the man and his brother, and pulled a knife from his pocket.
He is accused of grabbing the man by the shirt while holding the knife in his other hand and threatening to kill the man if he did not come to the underground car park with him.
Mr Rezwani then allegedly demanded the man bring his car keys "as he was going to want the car", and walked the man into the unit to get a set of keys that belonged to the man's brother.
He then walked the man to the car park, pointed out damage to a car he said was his. He also used the keys to open a car belonging to the man's brother and grabbed a pair of sunglasses from inside, according to the police allegations.
They then went back inside the unit, where Mr Rezwani is accused of grabbing the man by the shirt and holding the knife to the man's left cheek, then moving it in a circular motion.
He then allegedly pointed the knife close to the man's face and said he was going to kill the man and his brother with the knife and a gun.
Mr Rezwani took the man's wallet, according to the allegations, and threw cash from it on the ground before "saying he was going to take the car, and if not someone was going to die".
Police say he then left the unit.
The alleged victim rang police and 10 minutes after officers arrived at the scene about 12.05am on March 4, the man pointed out Mr Rezwani and identified him as the offender.
The officers arrested Mr Rezwani and found a knife and a set of keys belonging to the alleged victim's brother in his pocket, according to the police allegations.
Mr Rezwani is due in court again next week for a bail application.
