The off-contract Canberra Capitals guard shifted to Queensland to link up with Sunshine Coast Rip City for the NBL1 season before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now Rocci could be left without basketball and a job depending on the immediate future of schools in the state if she opts to stay north with her partner, Brisbane Lion Tom Fullarton.
But the 21-year-old has backed the decision to cancel the NBL1 season and knows she has the perfect support network in the form of her family back in Victoria.
"Because I've got no income, I kind of broke down a little bit knowing I wasn't going to be able to earn money and play this off-season, but they're super supportive and always there for me," Rocci said.

"They told me to stay where I was. They knew I was always going to end up in Queensland because it was the off-season so they were aware of it.
"I got to go home for two weeks before I came up here. They didn't really mind I was up here. They're super supportive of me right now.
"I've still got my house on the Sunshine Coast so I'm waiting to see what they're going to do with all of that. I do have a job at a school, so I'm waiting to see if they go back for term two, and if not, I'll see.
"I can't really go anywhere right now because the borders are closed so I'm kind of stuck. But I guess it's not a bad place to be stuck in.
"If I end up staying in Brisbane, I've seen a few childcare jobs I could apply for, and it's the same on the coast as well.
"Once I find out that final agreement about what's going to happen with my house, I can sort out getting another job or making my way home in a couple of months."
The Capitals are keen to retain Rocci as Paul Goriss' side sets its sights on a third consecutive WNBL championship in the 2020-21 season.
But contract offers have been torn up with the league's free agency period suspended until there is further clarity on the upcoming campaign.
The NBL1 season was cancelled following the Australian government's move to close indoor sports centres in a bid to to slow the spread of the virus.
All three of the league's conferences - South, North and Central - had already been postponed until mid-May before officials opted to begin planning for 2021.
Because I've got no income, I kind of broke down a little bit knowing I wasn't going to be able to earn money and play this off-season.
- Maddison Rocci
While one wondered if Rocci would make her way back out of Queensland, the decision left her Capitals teammate Keely Froling scrambling to make it into the state before borders were shut.
Froling was supposed to link up with Launceston for the NBL1 season but will now spend time with family in Queensland after the competition was axed and university moved to online learning.
"It was very sad and disappointing at first but you have to take into consideration the health of wellbeing of everyone around," Rocci said.
"I'm doing home workouts and going for runs, I went and shot when the stadium was open but I could only get in one before it all closed.
"I'm hoping I'll find somewhere to go and shoot, but now I can't really do any of that. For now, it's all indoor workouts, going for runs, ball handling, that's basically all I can do right now."
