Canberra has received almost double the average monthly rainfall for March, as a fresh storm swept across the capital on Sunday night.

More than 15 millimetres fell in the ACT in the 24 hours to 9am on Monday.
The heavy rain that lashed parts of Canberra also brought with it a spectacular lightning storm across parts of the ACT.
The Bureau of Meteorology said Canberra had received more than 99 millimetres of rain since the start of the month.

That figure is well above the average rainfall for the month of 60 millimetres.
Forecaster at the bureau Helen Reid said similar rainfall was seen in other parts of NSW.
"We've got a band of rain moving across the state and there's thunderstorms embedded in that," she said.
"That's a result of a trough cold front moving through southern NSW and the ACT."
Suburbs in Canberra's south copped the most of Sunday night's rain with Woden receiving 16 millimetres, Kingston getting 15 millimetres while 13 millimetres was recorded at Canberra Airport.
While the wet weather abated during the day on Monday, allowing for some people to exercise outdoors, Canberrans were being reminded to keep their social distance of 1.5 metres.
Ms Reid said the weather system that brought on the rain was moving slowly across the capital.
"The cloudband is still over the ACT and clearing out, and there may be more rain that develops," she said.
"Not as much is on the way, but in the case of thunderstorms developing, Canberra is in the clear."
After the dry start to the year for Canberra, Ms Reid said it was reassuring to see large rainfall totals.
"Given the year that we've had, any rain is good, but the rain we had on Sunday night was really good in that it was a gentle rain but not all at once," she said.
More rain is forecast for the remainder of the week, but not as much as seen on Sunday night.
Up to 20 millimetres of rain is forecast for Thursday, while a further eight millimetres is forecast for Friday. Friday will see a possible shower while partly cloudy conditions are on the cards for Saturday.
Tuesday will see some early fog develop and a low temperature of 11 before a mostly sunny afternoon and a high of 24.
