A message from your federal representatives
It's been a tough start to 2020 for Canberrans. We began the year with bushfires and hazardous smoke haze, and now the Coronavirus is presenting new and unprecedented challenges.
Canberrans are concerned for their health and that of their families. Many are facing the loss of jobs and income and we are all adjusting to the new norm of social distancing and home isolation.
Canberrans expect their federal representatives to work constructively with the Federal government during this unprecedented time and we will continue to do that. However, where there are gaps or concerns about the response we are here to advocate for and support our local community.
Before this pandemic many Canberrans would not have had reason to contact their local representatives, but all of us are seeing a significant increase in the number of Canberrans seeking information and assistance since COVID-19 emerged.
An important message from us during this challenging time is that no matter how big or small your request might be, we are here to support you and the community we all love.
We are here if you need help to:
- understand what government stimulus measures are available to you or your business
- access or apply for Centrelink payments
- navigate advice from the Federal and ACT governments
- get groceries delivered because you are in self-isolation, elderly or have a disability
- talk to someone about your individual situation.
Please follow the official health advice. Stay home if you can and keep at least 1.5 metres from others if you have to go out.
We need to take care of each other, be kind to one another and support the work of our health professionals and other essential workers who are working so hard to keep us safe. Together we will get through this.
Members of Parliament are available to assist Canberrans by email or over the phone:
