One thing I've really been missing during this past locked down month or so is the road-trip. Jumping in the car, heading somewhere a couple of hours away for a nice lunch, a potter in a shop, some tunes on the radio, a change of scenery.

One of my favourite jaunts is Jugiong, 90 minutes away, an easy drive down the Hume, plenty to do once you're there. Perhaps lunch at the newly renovated Sir George pub, stock up at the Jugiong Wine Cellar, but always include a visit The Long Track Pantry in the restored general store.
The bustling cafe and general store is beloved for its delicious food in the cafe but also for its range of produce made on site, jams, dressing and chutneys made from local seasonal produce.
And now you can get it all home delivered, through Long Track at Home. There are three deliveries each week: Harden and Young every Wednesday; Yass, Murrumbateman and Canberra every Thursday; and Cootamundra, Junee and Wagga every Friday. There is also the option to pick up in store if restrictions allow you to travel.
Long Track owner Juliet Robb said they needed to think of a new way to keep the business afloat.
"To test our idea we put it out to our customers on social media to see if having Long Track favourites such as potato, bacon and leek soup delivered to them at home might be of interest and the feedback was an overwhelming yes," she said.
"With a freezer full of ready-made soups, curries, pies, lasagnes and even dumplings, we had everything we needed to run a successful delivery service, we had even just purchased a new work ute".
Robb says the service has been a game changer, not only for the pantry, but for so many regionally based families who needed to look after loved ones and wanted the convenience of a home delivery service, while also eating wholesome meals.
"Family members who live long distances from their parents or grandparents, are ordering a week's worth of food from us, to deliver on their behalf. We have a standing weekly order from a daughter in Singapore to her parents living in Canberra. It is so lovely to be able to help."
The response has been so good it is something the pantry might continue to do once restrictions are lifted. They are contemplating adding a second delivery day into Canberra to meet demand.
"This week alone we have sent out 70 plus pistachio and lime syrup cakes into the region," Robb said.
