It comes as New Zealand announced their five Super Rugby teams will play a 10-week competition from June 13.

The ACT Brumbies will return to training on Tuesday after they had an information session on Monday.

It's hoped they'll be back playing in July following a gradual increase in training intensity.

The first two weeks they'll adhere to social-distancing measures in groups of 10 or smaller before the introduction of some contact work.

It's hoped they'll be training as a full squad with full contact in four weeks. Then it's full steam ahead to games.

"We're looking at a 12-week competition - 10 weeks of regular-round matches and depending on the number of teams to work out how many games per week there," Rugby Australia high performance manager Ben Whittaker said.

"The Sunwolves would be located in either NSW or Queensland.

"We'll need to have that sorted by the end of this month and we're well on path to get that done."

Brumbies prop Scott Sio was keen to know what the makeup of the competition looked like.

"I think once that conversation comes around we'll be excited to see what the layout is," Sio said.

"There's always a massive rivalry between teams, I think that will be amplified when we know if it's a domestic competition or not.

"That will be great, I think it'll make the rivalry stronger for a lot of different matches. I just think a lot of us are just looking forward to getting on the field when we can."

While the usual Wallabies Test window in July still hasn't been officially ruled out it's highly unlikely to go ahead.

But it's hoped it can be pushed back to October following the abridged Super Rugby season.

Then the Wallabies might go to Europe the following month.

"All the nations are extremely committed to having [the Rugby Championship] in place of some form and are willing to play late into the year," Whittaker said.

"The other things we need to consider and haven't got any formal indication of is whether the July Tests are moving to October and also the ability for us to go north in November."
