Virtual Orchestra
The Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the ANU School of Music invite musicians across the community to be part of Canberra's own Virtual Orchestra: Community Special. Orchestral players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. Download the recording guide online to record and submit parts for Arthur Benjamin's Jamaican Rumba and Offenbach's Can-Can by June 8, 2020. CinefestOZ
For the first time in its 13-year history, CinefestOZ will include a Short Film Competition with four cash prizes up for grabs. Mirrung
Now reopened to the public after being forced to close in March because of COVID-19, aMBUSH Gallery Kambri (ACT) is showing the exhibition Mirrung. It blends the artistic talents of Indigenous brother-sister duo David and Noni Cragg. Mirrung means "belonging" in Dharug (the Sydney language).Open daily from 10am to 6pm weekdays and noon to 5pm on weekends. ambushgallery.com.
Beaver Galleries
Now open again with controlled numbers of visitors, this gallery has two new exhibitions showing. Peter Boggs's landscape and interior paintings explore the mysterious qualities of light through his interior and landscape paintings. CMAG to reopen
Canberra Museum and Gallery will reopen to the public on June 10, 2020 following the advice of the ACT government. It will be open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Physical distancing and hygiene measures will be in place and the number of visitors allowed will be restricted. The new exhibition Martyn Jolly's Phantasmagoria will be on display in addition to exhibitions whose dates have been extended such as Building a Life: the Jennings Germans story and Seeing Canberra. The CMAG Café will begin trading on June 29. cmag.com.au.
