Wesley Wednesdays
The Wesley Music Centre's Wednesday Lunchtime Concert series will resume on Wednesday, July 15 from 12.40pm to 1.20pm with a concert by young musicians from the piano studio of Canberra pianist Jinbo Huang. They will perform works by Scarlatti, Bach, Haydn, Chopin, 20th-century Russian and Australian composers, and four-hand compositions by Brahms. Artists Toolkit
Despite the venues' temporary closure, Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres' program team have continued to run their core programs online, including their Artists Toolkit program. So far, the program has provided information to the Canberra arts community through webinars that explore grant writing, Centrelink support during COVID-19, accounting, tax and finance and more conceptual ideas such as"'Futuring" for artists and their creative process.The program will continue to run workshops, livestreams and one-on-one advice sessions until the end of July. Rep resumes
Canberra Repertory Society president Michael Sparks has announced the company will resume live theatre on July 31. It will begin with Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs, directed by Karen Vickery. This play was already in rehearsal when the COVID-19 shutdown occurred. It will run until August 16. The rest of the 2020 season contains two more comedies, Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw (September 10 to 26) and Alan Ayckbourn's Absurd Person Singular (November 19 to December 3). The scheduled production of Beatrix Christian's The Governor's Family will be moved to July 2021 but the production of Doubt, a Parable has been cancelled. canberrarep.org.au.
ANCA news
Australian National Capital Artists Gallery is coming back into action. The first two programs will be Yonezawa (June 29 to July 19) and Jacqui Malins (22 July to August 9). The gallery will reopen to the public with the physical exhibition Supernatural Light Affinity from August 12 to 30. The plan is to continue to present physical exhibitions from then onward in line with ACT government health advice as it is updated. Applications to exhibit at ANCA Gallery in September and October 2020 will open on July 1 at 1pm and close at 11.59pm on July 28. anca.net.au.

Selby & Friends return with an all-Beethoven program - shot in high res, hi-fi under social distance protocols at Sydney's City Recital Hall (its first concert since lockdown). The concert, celebrating Beethoven's 250th birthday, features the "Ghost" Piano Trio, the C minor Trio Opus 1, No. 3 and Beethoven's own arrangement for piano trio of his Symphony No. 2. Budding Theatre
Budding Theatre has announced two upcoming September shows, one based on a classic novel, the other a classic stage comedy. The Great Gatsby (September 15 to 19 at 8pm) is an original adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's book with 1920s jazz music and dance to provide an immersive Roaring Twenties experience. It has both a youth cast and an adult cast, performing on different nights. Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest is also being presented (September 16 and 17 at 6pm, September 19 at 2pm).
