McKellar Ridge Wines had been leasing the vineyard since it established in 2005, and now will be its namesake, with Point of View being renamed to McKellar Ridge Estate.

The vineyard is on an elevated volcanic ridge with the backdrop of the Brindabella Mountain Range. However, the key attraction is the volcanic soil which is prized for its ability to produce highly awarded wines.

While the purchase of the property will see the vineyard continue to maintain grape supply arrangements with existing commercial buyers, it will allow McKellar Ridge Wines to access more fruit for their existing premium wines which include shiraz, viognier, cabernet sauvignon, merlot along with two new varieties: chardonnay and tempranillo.

The acquisition enables directors and winemakers John and Marina Sekoranja to grow the business with plans to expand the winery and significantly increase wine production.

"After such a devastating end to the 2020 vintage which saw the dropping of vineyard crops across the region due to smoke taint, projected weather conditions are extremely favourable as we look forward to the expanded 2021 vintage," they say.

"Our winemaking will continue to focus on minimal intervention principles to ensure continued quality and retention of pristine fruit characters, a hallmark of McKellar Ridge premium wines.

"We plan to offer bespoke vineyard and winery experiences for visitors and groups who also share our passion for the grape. There are areas on the vineyard that offer spectacular views and privacy that are ideal for picnics, long-table lunches, and tastings. We will offer a range of options for guests looking for some tranquillity amongst the vines."

Tallagandra Hill Winery is celebrating coming out of isolation in a series of special events in its new venue for the We Love Local Festival.

Featured artists include Canberra's Lucy Sugerman, the duo Beautifully Mad, local performer Marty K, Queanbeyan's Jason Webb, and George Huitker and Junk Sculpture.

"Our aim is to get people out and about again, enjoying great wines and food with outstanding entertainment," Tallagandra Hill owner David Faulks says.

The Durham has been a supporter of craft beer and craft breweries and ensuring it has a strong, diverse, and interesting range of beers, supporting local, regional, national, and overseas breweries. Now the Kingston tavern is showcasing 16 different beers from 16 different breweries over four weeks, with four new dark beers a week.

"Dark beers are perfect for the cold Canberra winters with their roastier, more malt driven tastes and flavours, but dark beers are also more diverse than ever, and our aim is to showcase as many styles of dark beers as possible," Durham co-owner and manager Adrian Moran says.

These will include Western Sydney's own Young Henrys Hoppy Porter, Western Australia's Feral Brewing Smoked Porter, Wagga's Thirsty Crow Vanilla Stout and beers from Wollongong's Five Barrel Brewing among others

Each Saturday the team will tap a new set of four beers just in time for the weekend by four new breweries.

The Bavarian is celebrating its return with its warming selection of pork knuckles, schnitzels, sausages, and sticky ribs.

The Woden restaurant has already opened its doors, while the Belconnen restaurant is getting ready to reopen on July 22, with safe dining measures in place and customers' favourite comfort food on the menu.

Each restaurant is contactless with tap and go, mobile phone orders, and payment technology by menu, which negates the need for menus on the table and manual cash or card transactions for customers. Delivery and pick-up services are also available.

The Bavarian has bought about 25 team members back to work at the Canberra restaurants.
