Demand has driven the Mov'In Car Drive-In Cinema to extend its time in Canberra by a week.
The cinema, situated in the Questacon car park, only started screening movies in Canberra on July 1.
Mov'in Car was originally Mov'in Bed; an outdoor cinema event where audiences had 150 queen-sized beds to lounge on as they watched movies.
Its first season was in 2016, and was promoted as one of the five best cinema experiences in the world.
When COVID-19 hit Australia, Mov'in changed the format of the cinema to allow for a physically distanced movie experience.
The Mov'in cinema tours around the country. Its first stop was in Sydney earlier this year.
"We did this in Sydney, it was a very big success there and then we decided to bring the experience to Canberra," managing director Vincent Hernandez said.
"Its working really well, there's a lot of demand for it."
Mov'in was originally due to travel to Melbourne, however that is not possible due to the closure of the NSW-Victoria border.
Additionally, with border closures also at the Queensland and South Australian borders, Hernandez says Mov'in Cinema will use this time to focus its attention on Sydney and Canberra.
"The trouble is it would be difficult anyway, finding a flight [to Melbourne] - there is a lot of logistics in this event," Hernandez said.
In addition to a mixture of recent releases and classic films, the drive-in cinema also includes contactless food and drink delivery, including pizza, snacks, wine beer and soft drink.
