Especially from Storm coach Craig Bellamy. Especially if the Canberra Raiders can win a record fourth-straight victory over the NRL benchmarks.

A tongue-in-cheek Raiders coach Ricky Stuart threw his good mate under the bus, revealing a bet the Storm mentor made when they chatted on the phone earlier in the week.

If the Raiders win, Bellamy vowed to do a nudie run around a Queensland golf course near where the Storm are now based.

If the Storm win, Stuart vowed he would do no such thing.

The pair are good mates from their playing days at the Green Machine, where they met back in the 1980s.

They regularly catch up and when there aren't any coronavirus pandemics around they usually have a beer the night before their teams play.

That's not possible at the moment, so Stuart instead decided to have a bit of fun.

The Raiders have won the past three meetings - the first time they've managed the feat since the Storm entered the competition.

Stuart's men are looking to extend that streak when they play in front of a sold-out Canberra Stadium - albeit restricted to a crowd of just 1500.

"Any team coached by Craig Bellamy you know they're going to be ready," Stuart started off.

"I spoke to Craig during the week and he said that there's no way in the world you're going to get us four times in a row.

"He said if you do I'll run around the Twin Waters Golf Course naked. That's how confident he is.

"He's pretty happy up in camp there. He doesn't have to pay for a meal, he's got his grandkids there so he's in a pretty good space at the moment.

"In all seriousness, it's going to be a hard game."

Bellamy heard whispers of Stuart's comments and quickly put the Sunshine Coast people's minds at ease, fearing for the psychological scarring that could be caused.

He revealed he hadn't spoken to Stuart this week - although he planned to on Friday afternoon.

"I heard a little bit of a rumour about that, but Rick - which he does a fair bit - has told a little fib there," Bellamy smiled.

"I haven't actually spoken to him this week. Most people that know me would know I wouldn't make that sort of promise.

"I don't want to scare too many people - they might never get over it. That's not going to happen.

"I haven't spoken to him this week, but he might be getting a call this afternoon."

The high-stakes affair will also be Kai O'Donnell's NRL debut.

Stuart declared O'Donnell was ready due to the application and extra training he's constantly put in.

He said the 21-year-old was a versatile forward who could cover a number of positions when he comes off the bench against the Storm.

"He's played a little bit of back row, played on the edge and in the middle," Stuart said.

"We'll give him his opportunity on Saturday night and they're nice days where coaches can go out and debut a young boy who has lived his life to play NRL."
