TWELVE defence force personnel are in isolation at the Wagga Wagga RAAF base in NSW's Riverina after visiting a Sydney pub at the source of a coronavirus cluster.

Before heading to Wagga, a group of defence force personnel visited the Crossroads Hotel in Casula, Sydney last Thursday which has been linked to multiple cases of COVID-19 over the past 10 days, with hundreds of attendees now in precautionary self-isolation.
A statement from the department of defence said a group attended the pub on July 9, a day before they were set to be deployed on tasks related to Operation COVID-19 Assist.
The entire 12-person contingent coming from Sydney went into isolation the following day after NSW Health confirmed two cases were linked to the venue.
They have been in isolation since Friday awaiting the results of coronavirus tests, and will continue to isolate for 14 days regardless of test results.
"There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the contingent and the base has not been locked down," the statement read.
NSW Health have also confirmed none of the defence force personnel have received a positive test result.
Yesterday, NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant said everyone who had visited the hotel from July 3 until its closure on July 10 should self-isolate for 14 days from the time of their visit after an 18-year-old staff member became the third person to test positive for the virus after attending the hotel.
The source of the Crossroads outbreak is not yet known.
