The yacht club is now open for lunch and dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The very popular downstairs takeaway outlet Snapper had remained open during the coronavirus pandemic. It will now be doing takeaway fish and chips to be eaten on the lawns from Wednesday to Sunday.
A new addition, Snapper and Co, also started on Friday with an à la carte service and expanded menu in the club's lakeside marquees. Tables can be pre-booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Canberra Southern Cross Club chief executive officer Ian Mackay said it was great to see the yacht club reopen after dealing with the hailstorm and now COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.
Mr Mackay said the go-ahead to replace the roof only came recently from the insurance company.
"It's fantastic to have some parts of our business open, and we're excited by that, but it's also difficult. Until we get to stage three restrictions, it won't feel like we're getting back to anywhere near normal," Mr Mackay said.
"It's a relief and frustrating at the same time."
