Because Bennett will break Belconnen's all-time first grade games record when he makes his 269th appearance in a clash with Tuggeranong Valley at Greenway Oval on Sunday.
So how does David feel about watching his son break the record he set 28 years ago? One would think it's a sense of pride, but Lexie jokes that may not be the case if he keeps ribbing him about it.
"Well, I keep telling him I'm going to retire after the game," Bennett said.
"It's certainly something that is pretty important to the family. Dad obviously has held the record for quite a long time."

AFL Canberra Hall of Fame member David Bennett brought down the curtain on an illustrious 17-year career in the top grade in 1992.
Lexie and his brother James Bennett, who is one of four men to have played more than 200 senior games for the Magpies, grew up around football - be it in the Kippax Oval change rooms or around the club after games.
Although Lexie's memories of watching his father play for Belconnen are few and far between.
"I've got a few little memories of it, but it goes back to why our football club is great," Bennett said.
"I have memories of going back to the footy club and spending time with dad and his friends, but also their kids who I still have good friendships with.
"That family atmosphere at the football club is the big takeaway from those early times, not necessarily the football aspect but certainly the mateship that has developed over time.
"As you get older, these [records] don't mean as much. It's something that is nice in the background but it certainly hasn't driven my desire over the past five to 10 years.
"That has been to win a premiership, and unfortunately since 2009 we haven't done that."
So Belconnen are looking to lay the foundations for another, aiming to build on an unbeaten start to the disrupted 2020 campaign to avenge grand final heartbreak.
Perhaps then Bennett would hang up the boots - it would be a dream finish.
"There's still a lot for us to work on. Against Ainslie we were good early and then faded pretty quickly to let them back into the game which was pretty disappointing," Bennett said.
"There were several aspects on the weekend where Gungahlin outplayed us which we certainly need to fix.
"We've won two games which will set us up going forward, but certainly there is a heap more work to be done."
