So much so Canberra Raiders under-20s halfback Reece Piepers had to come off due to hypothermia from playing in the Nicholls International Swamp on Saturday.
It was the Raiders 20s who again proved too strong, pulling away in the final 20 minutes as they've made a habit of doing.
But it was a great Gungahlin Bulls effort, going down 28-8 in tough conditions.
They'd only trailed 10-8 part way through the second half - and almost went ahead through a soccer kick they couldn't quite get down in the slide for the ball.
But the Raiders' quality told in the end, with prop Sila Tituiti and lock Trey Mooney especially good in the mud.
One Bulls player made the mistake of making Mooney angry with a high shot in the second half, sparking the No.13 into action with a try.
Tituiti also scored a brace, with Jeremiah Simbikin and Keaton Meads also getting on the scoresheet.
"Sila got a couple and Trey might've got a couple [of tries] as well. But I thought both of those two took the game by the scruff of the neck and played really hard and direct through the middle there," Raiders 20s coach Ash Barnes said.
"For Tre this was his first week out of the NRL bubble. He's one of our SG Ball boys that has been up training with the NRL over the last month."
Gordon Whippy was excellent for the Bulls, while five-eighth Tre Williams looked as good as a half can in the awful conditions.
Gungahlin winger Earldric Pehara charged over in the corner for the home team's only try.
"Like most sides we can do that [stick with them for 60], but the fitness of the Raiders get them home," Bulls coach Neil Bijorac said.
"They played some good footy too in the conditions. I thought we were going OK until half-time and maybe 10 minutes of the third [quarter], but then they just came away with it."
In the other Canberra Raiders Cup game, the Queanbeyan Blues came from behind to beat the Woden Valley Rams 18-14 at Phillip Oval.
The Blues also beat the Bushpies 24-20 in the Katrina Fanning Shield, while the Tuggeranong Buffaloes beat West Belconnen 46-0.
