Craft ACT is presenting a floor talk with Dr Milica Muminovi, Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Canberra, where she will discuss Craft ACT's current exhibition, Differing Perspectives. The exhibition contains sculptural objects and pieces of furniture by Calum Hurley and Jordan Leeflang that respond to photographs of metropolitan Japan. The floor talk is on Saturday, August 22 at 1.30pm. The talk is free there is limited capacity - bookings essential. Screen Canberra is among the organisations that will provide funding for short films that utilise Epic Games' Unreal Engine software. Up to three projects will be selected from ACT-based creators. Each project will receive $20,000 in production funding to create a short film up to five minutes long. Requirements: applicants must live and work in the ACT, not be employed by a state or government screen agency, not be employed by a broadcaster, not be a full-time student and must own the rights to the story they are telling. The 2020 Ginninderry Drawing Prize is calling for entries into this competition that features prizes in a number of categories. Artists are invited to enter up to two works in the competition, with the final exhibition to be held in Strathnairn Arts Woolshed in September 2020. The entry fee is $25 an entry. Entries close on September 4 at COB. First prize (non-acquisitive) $4000, college prize (Years 11 and 12) $500, high school prize (Years 7 to 10) $500. Exhibition dates: September 12 to October 11. Tickets are on sale for Canberra 2060: Futures with a Capital F. It challenges audiences to create a brighter future for Canberra through an interactive game, both digitally and live on the Canberra Theatre Stage from August 31 to September 5. In this new work, made specifically for Canberra, arts and game design collective Boho Interactive challenges audiences in the theatre and those participating online to explore how a city recovers from shocks, and how these tipping points can be opportunities for positive change.
