ACT police said they saw the 38-year-old, who was driving a Mitsubishi SUV at Oaks Estate, do a u-turn before driving away towards Canberra Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the driver, but the man allegedly sped away and reached 180km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The man then drove over a roundabout at Isa Street in Fyshwick, which led to both of the car's front tyres separating from the rims, police said.
After the car came to a stop, the man allegedly ran away before police caught him soon after.
Paramedics assessed the man at the scene, before he was taken to hospital.
He was later released to the ACT Watch House.
The 38-year-old was charged with several offences, including dangerous driving, drug possession, possessing a prohibited firearm and ammunition and failing to stop for police.
He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on the charges on Tuesday.
