Advertised jobs in Canberra jumped 12.4 per cent month-on-month. This was the highest of the states and territories.
As well, most applicants for jobs in Canberra came from interstate, representing 64 per cent of all applications.
Of interstate applicants, 20 per cent were from Sydney, 13.7 per cent were from Melbourne and 5.3 per cent were from Brisbane.
As well, 5.6 per cent of applicants came from overseas.
Industries that led Canberra's growth included jobs in information and communication technology, administration and office support and retail and consumer products.
Jobs in trades and services in Canberra fell by 1 per cent.
The number of advertised jobs were up month-on-month across the nation but Victoria and the Northern Territory were both down at 12.8 per cent and 1.8 per cent, respectively.
Queensland was in second spot with a 7.4 per cent growth, followed by NSW at 6.3 per cent.
While figures were up over the month, year-on-year the number of advertised jobs was down 30 per cent nationally.
Nationally, advertised jobs in manufacturing, transport and logistics led growth over July, up 9 per cent.
