The State of Origin star was saddened these type of incidents were still happening, but felt the right steps were being taken towards cutting out racism from the game.
Eight drunken spectators were kicked out of the Panthers' 18-12 victory over the New Zealand Warriors on the Central Coast on Friday after Naden reported them for both personal and racist abuse.
NRL acting chief executive Andrew Abdo was quick to come out and condemn the abuse and has vowed to act swiftly and strongly.
The NRL's still investigating the incident with the eight people involved potentially facing life bans.
"I was very sad just to see it's still happening, but I think the NRL's handled it great," Wighton said.
"I've seen it all over social media. Me, myself and all the boys in the NRL have got Nado's back and he's got a lot of support and a lot of love there.
"The more and more we keep cutting this stuff out - it's totally unacceptable - and we're going the right way about that.
"We're really seeing that from what happened on the weekend.
"Credit to Nado for standing up for himself too. It takes a lot of courage. He's a young kid and he's playing some of his best footy so it was really good to see."
MORE RAIDERS NEWS
Wighton was unsure how often Indigenous players were subject to racist abuse, but said the weekend showed it was clearly still happening.
Naden and him were former Raiders clubmates, with the Naden spending the 2017 season in Canberra playing for the Mounties in the NSW Cup before eventually returning to the Panthers - where he played his junior football.
He made his NRL debut for Penrith last year and has scored eight tries in 10 games for the ladder-leaders in a break-out season.
"I'm not sure mate. Obviously it's still there, it's only a couple of days old, but we're going the right way about wiping it [out] I think," Wighton said.
He revealed his halves partnership with England international George Williams was evolving.
Williams starred in the Raiders' 28-point demolition of the Brisbane Broncos on the weekend, scoring a try and setting a couple up.
Wighton revealed the 25-year-old was taking more responsibility in steering the Green Machine around the park.
But that doesn't mean they've moved to a more traditional halves set-up, with five-eighth Wighton at second receiver.
Wighton was still in control of the Raiders' left edge - it's just Williams has a bit more freedom to roam.
"Me and Georgie, we changed our roles a little bit more. He's taking control of the ruck a bit more now. [We had] a lot of fun doing that and it worked for us," Wighton said.
"I still control the left side of the field. He's just a little bit more hands on and a little bit more freedom to swing both ways basically."
