ACT chief health officer Kerryn Coleman has approved Canberra Stadium's capacity to double to 3000 for this weekend's games.
After that? Who knows, with Coleman set to reassess the capacity on a near weekly basis following the ACT Brumbies' clash with the Western Force on Friday night and the Canberra Raiders' game against the Canterbury Bulldogs on Sunday.
It's just an exemption from the current limit of 1500, which was introduced because of the coronavirus pandemic.
As revealed by The Canberra Times, both the Raiders and Brumbies had been hopeful the crowd sizes would lift as they both head towards likely finals campaigns.
"The pandemic is far from over, but opening up [Canberra] Stadium to more spectators in a COVID-safe manner is part of us learning to live with COVID-19," an ACT government spokesperson told The Canberra Times.

But at this stage the ACT government said it was too early to say what the capacity would be for any finals given the fluid nature of the COVID-19 virus.
The Raiders sit fifth on the NRL ladder and need just two wins from their final five rounds to be guaranteed a spot in the top eight, while the Brumbies are top of the Super Rugby AU ladder and need one win from their final two games to finish top and host the grand final.
The Raiders' extra allocation will go on sale on Ticketek on Wednesday at 9am.
It will be open to the general public, with Raiders members getting tickets cheaper.
The Brumbies will release their extra allocation to members on Wednesday at 10am and will open it up to the general public on Thursday if any remain.
"ACT Health is confident Venues Canberra has undertaken thorough planning and risk assessment to provide a safe environment for spectators, staff and players to support an increase in spectator numbers,"
"Events conducted at [Canberra] Stadium since the initial exemption to allow for 1500 spectators to attend matches in early July have demonstrated that events with crowds can be held at the venue in a safe manner with appropriate COVID-19 risk mitigation controls in place.
"The exemption approved by the chief health officer relates to the Brumbies and Raiders fixtures on [Friday and Sunday].
"ACT Health will continue to assess the situation and risks around allowing crowds into matches at [Canberra] Stadium with regard to evaluating future exemption requests for the venue.
"The chief health officer will continue to assess the situation and risks around crowds attending matches at [Canberra] Stadium.
"At this stage it is too early to say what the situation will be for any potential NRL or Super Rugby finals fixtures."
