Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker has had some of his supply chains cut off, meaning he's had to hold on to things like his football boots.

But have no fear kids, he's got enough head gear for his post-game ritual of giving it to someone in the crowd.

Hopefully, he'll give four more away this NRL season - starting with one after the elimination final against the Cronulla Sharks at Canberra Stadium on Saturday and then another three up to and including the grand final.

You hear stories almost on a weekly basis of Croker going out of his way to make a young fan's day/week/month/year.

It's why he's been nominated for the Ken Stephen Medal, which goes to an NRL player for their work in the community.

Last year, Raiders spiritual leader Sia Soliola won it for his work with the homeless, the disabled and seemingly the rest of Canberra as well.

Croker said the nomination should go to his wife Brittney for organising a lot of the things he does.

And he thinks the medal should be given to the entire New Zealand Warriors team for the sacrifices they've made in moving to Australia for the past four months.

But that sells short all the joy Croker helps bring. Whether it's just handing out his head gear after the game.

Or walking back into the sheds with only his socks and budgy smugglers on having given away everything including the shirt off his back - like he did in Wagga Wagga last year.

Or visiting a family during the week because he'd given one brother his head gear only to find out the other one had missed out.

"It's humbling. I didn't expect it. I don't give away the head gear and boots just to get nominated for a medal, I just enjoy doing it," Croker said.

"I've got to give credit to my wife actually because a lot of the stuff goes through her. She probably cops too much from people asking for stuff on social media.

"She's the one who responds because I'm hopeless on my phone .. and she gets on to me to do it. I should nominate her for the medal."

A shoulder injury has forced Tom Trbojevic to rule himself out of the NSW Blues squad for the upcoming State of Origin series.

It's brought Croker into the conversation as a possible inclusion in the centres.

It would mean another six weeks in a bubble ahead of the three-game series, which starts at Adelaide Oval on November 4.

Croker said he would happily become a permanent bubble boy to get the chance to make his Origin debut.

But he hasn't spoken to Blues coach Brad Fittler - except during a radio interview he did with him the other day.

"I'd live in the bubble just to do that. It wouldn't bother me at all," Croker said.
