An extra 210 services will be introduced on Saturdays, with a bus every hour on some local routes between 6am and midday.
Transport Canberra acting deputy director-general Ben McHugh there would also be some changes to weekday routes and school services from Monday.
"Some of these changes include timing adjustments to improve connections and better accommodate school bell times as well as the inclusion of some extra bus stops," he said.
Public transport advocates held concerns the weekend route changes wouldn't happen after they were put on hold due to driver shortages and then commuters were forced off public transport due to the pandemic.
Mr McHugh said people were not yet encouraged to use public transport when it was avoidable, but noted more services would give commuters a better chance to physically distance.
"Use of public transport in off-peak periods where possible is encouraged to help avoid crowding," he said.
