As an island continent and a society that gravitates to the water for holidays, social activities and fun, every Australian should learn how to swim. This skill may not only one day save your or your child's life but also comes with many benefits.
Aquatots Swim School was established in 2002 and now operates out of four locations at Googong, Forde, Gold Creek and Black Mountain.
"Our facilities are clean, warm and private with no public allowed during lesson times providing a safe, calm environment for the babies and children to learn in," manager Alena Sarri of Aquatots Swim School said.
"At Aquatots we understand that babies are born with an innate affinity with the water, as they are surrounded by amniotic fluid in the womb for nine months.
"Reintroducing them to this environment means we can use their natural ability in the water to build strength, coordination and motor skills."
Aquatots' highly qualified, award-winning aquatic educators will guide you through the class where a holistic approach will allow time for you to bond with your baby and give them the best aquatic start in life.
Starting your baby in the water at a young age will assist with their physical and mental development plus they will learn to swim from an earlier stage in life.
All aquatic educators at Aquatots hold a Swim Australia or Austswim qualification and WWVP card.
"Our baby instructors also hold their required infant in aquatics qualification and our coaches and higher-level instructors hold a Comp Strokes qualification or higher," Alena said. "Many of our team members also hold qualifications for teaching additional needs."
With over 100 years' industry experience from the just six members of the management team, their tried and tested methods flow through the program to create a strong foundation that they know works.
Aquatots teaches babies from six weeks of age right through to a squad level of swimming along with adult and teenage classes, additional needs programs, women's only learn to swim, and aqua aerobics.
"Our Learn to Swim program focuses on each child as an individual - all activities, drills and exercises are developmentally age appropriate," she added. "Our aquatic educators build trust so your child relies on them being there each week."
COVID-safe rules are in place such as classes running with limited equipment which is cleaned after each session, limited numbers allowed in the centres, adjustments to changing areas, contactless entry and recording, and strict health guidelines in place.
"Aquatots is not only a swim school but an amazing community. We have the pleasure of watching the children grow from tiny babies into amazing mini humans to even bigger ones.
"This life-long love for the water is very apparent in the fact that some of our past students from the baby program end up becoming part or our Aquatic Educating team themselves later in life, passing the passion they have gained from Aquatots onto the next generation."
