And then Wandonna flew across Thoroughbred Park to land Dryden a winning double on Sunday's meet he helped sponsor.
The four-year-old mare claimed the Keith Dryden Racing handicap (1200 metres) and burst clear by 2.75 lengths, beating Peter Flood's Mandalong Nicko and Joseph Ible's Fusca to the top-podium finish.
She's now unbeaten in her last three starts at Thoroughbred Park and has placed in every race for Dryden's stable, having changed hands from Gary Portelli in September.
"She's turned a corner and won the last three on the trot. You don't get too many horses that do that," Dryden said.
"We'll see what happens next with her."
Wandonna's win came after Dryden's stable claimed a one-two finish in the $34,000 Federal (1600 metres).
Balonne, under Jay Ford, edged out recent Highway winner Scarleo by 1.22 lengths, with Neil Osbourne's Lolita Gold rounding out the podium.
"The favourite ran second but there wasn't much in it. He did a great job because he hadn't had a start for five weeks," Dryden said.
"He did really well and it was a good result. When you get a one-two in a race, you can't get much better than that.
"They were both place chances, so the one-two didn't surprise me."
Dryden teamed up with Laurel Oak Bloodstock to sponsor the Road to the Jericho meeting, with the long-distance event drawing a sell-out crowd to Thoroughbred Park.
"That's why we sent four prize-winning chances. It's been successful for us so we're very happy," Dryden said.
"We had 120-odd guests here, so it was good to get a couple of winners and make it a good day."
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Frenzied secured a start in the $300,000 Jericho Cup with a win over 3400 metres.
Christian Reith rode the five-year-old stayer to victory on the Road to the Jericho, beating David Noonan's Da Deputy by 2.59 lengths.
They'll meet again at the Warrnambool marathon on November 29, with Da Deputy only needing a second-placed finish to qualify.
