The W-League club will instead play its six home fixtures at Viking Park, a multi-sport stadium that can hold up to 8000 people in Wanniassa.

Capital Football issued a media release on Monday evening saying McKellar Park "remains closed due to the effect of COVID-19".

The venue, owned by Belconnen Soccer Club, never reopened following the health crisis, forcing the Blue Devils' premier league teams to shift their base to Hawker.

United played one match at Viking Park during the 2014-15 season, with chief executive Phil Brown looking forward to returning to the venue.

"I extend my sincere thanks to Vikings Group for making Viking Park the new home of Canberra United for the [upcoming] W-League season," Brown said.

"I speak for the whole club when I say we are looking forward to playing at their excellent facility.

"McKellar Park and Belconnen Soccer Club, like many in our community, have felt the impact of COVID-19. I want to thank Belconnen Soccer Club for their support of Canberra United over the years and we hope to see football return to the venue in the future."

Part of the W-League draw will be announced on Tuesday, with the season to kick-off on December 27.
