At the chamber's annual general meeting on Wednesday night, chief executive Graham Catt said it had been a tough year for business.

"Advocacy has been particularly important in a year that brought us an economic crisis and an ACT election. We've worked hard to ensure that the media, government and the community understand how critical business will be to the territory's recovery and long term prosperity," he said.

Mr Catt said most of the Chambers events this year were cancelled due to the pandemic and transitioned online, but he hoped for a return in a few months.

"We were unable to run most of our major events due to COVID restrictions but moved quickly to offer online opportunities, and by June we were planning the COVID safe return of face-to-face business networking in July," he said.

Longtime board member Keith Cantlie stepped down last night as three directors were re-elected to the chamber - Capital recruit director Sarah Rajic, Canberra Airport head of property Richard Snow and Canberra FM general manager Craig Wagstaff.

Chamber chairman Archie Tsirimokos said Mr Cantlie had made an "outstanding contribution".

"The re-election of three current board members reflects the confidence our members have in the leadership and governance of the Chamber," he said.

"I would like to thank every member of the board for their ongoing commitment and support in what was a challenging environment. I would particularly like to thank Keith Cantlie, who has made an outstanding contribution to the Chamber over many years."
