"This is the last round, Brock".
The Hall of Famer's protege was listening, for it took a matter of seconds for him to close the show against Mark Schleibs and improve his perfect professional record to 18-0.
Jarvis stopped Schleibs (12-1) 1:16 into the fifth round to claim the IBF Pan Pacific and WBO Global featherweight titles at Canberra's Coorong Pavilion on Friday night.
The unbeaten prospect widely regarded as one of Australia's brightest boxing talents was dominant from the outset against a willing yet ultimately outclassed Schleibs.

With Fenech in his corner, one can't help but wonder just how exciting this prospect is, just how high this rising star could fly.
"I still think we have a lot of work to do, I'll keep working on it," Jarvis said in the ring post-fight.
"It was good, Mark put up a good fight so I thank him for that. I haven't fought in over a year, but I've been busy in the gym. I was confident I'd be fine, thanks to Luke Jackson, Hassan Hamden, all the guys I've been sparring.
"Thanks to Dean Lonergan and Stu Duncan for having me in the main event."
This may serve as Jarvis' only fling in the featherweight division. The 23-year-old's frame is rapidly outgrowing the weight classes to which he has grown accustomed.
It is not without reason some suggest his next bout comes at junior lightweight, and he would eventually rise to the welterweight division.
For this camp, if only for a fleeting moment, Jarvis tipped the scales at 56.9 kilograms, well below the featherweight limit and well clear of his opposite man.
Schleibs weighed in at 55.1 kilograms, giving up an incredible size advantage to an already taller man for the biggest fight of his career.
Fenech fireworks had become something of a highlight during the build up to this bout and he was never going to miss one more chance to light the fuse at Thursday afternoon's weigh-in.
The odd expletive dissected Fenech's final jab as a crowd craned their necks to see Schleibs on the scales. Fenech was sure to tell everyone how stupid Schleibs' team was for letting him come in so light against a bigger man, and that it would be an excuse for them when he was knocked out by a bigger man in Jarvis.
One should have known Fenech would have something up his sleeve at the weigh-in, having already ignited the build up by declaring Schleibs a "nobody", the rival camp's push to overhaul a NSW-dominated judging panel "bullshit", and telling his opposite man Sam Brizzi he would put up five times the purse, winner takes all.
"He just keep getting better. He's still a novice, he's still learning," Fenech said of Jarvis while paying tribute to Schleibs' camp.
"Mark surprised me. Things happen in the heat of the moment. I can't thank you guys enough for putting up a great fight.
"We're just taking it one step at a time, never going to put the cart in front of the horse. As soon as this pandemic is over, we'll be going over to America to train.
"You saw him fight five really hard rounds, he had 10 left in him. I love being associated with him."
Through it all Jarvis remained largely silent, not one to be drawn into a war of the words and instead content to fire his shots inside the ring.
He would do just that.
