1. Underground Spirits Mixed Up
It's the best kind of mix up. A cocktail mix up. Join a mixologist from Underground Spirits this weekend for a tasting and cocktail masterclass, where they will walk you through the best cocktails for the summer season, Underground style. They will take you through a theatre of cocktail making and show you how to shake it, all while looking out over Lake Burley Griffin. The class includes two cocktails, tastings of the range and bar snacks. Saturday and Sunday, 1.15pm and 2.45pm. Canberra and Region Visitors Centre. Tickets are $69.66 from Eventbrite. 2. Local Yoga Project
Want to start your Sunday with something relaxing? Local Yoga is hosting free yoga classes in the tranquil courtyard gardens of Gorman Arts Centre. Feel free to hang out after class and chat over a cold-brew coffee in the morning sun. No bookings required, but it is limited capacity so first come, first served. The class is free, but those who can, are encouraged to donate to Canberra's Domestic Violence Crisis Service. Sunday, 9am. Gorman Arts Centre. Continues March 28.
3. Peril in the Parliament
There's a mystery at Old Parliament house and you're invited to solve it. Peril in the Parliament: The Silent Speaker, is the Museum of Australian Democracy's new whodunit game set in 1931. It will see you take a place in the House of Representatives, and work within a group to identify the killer. Dressing for the 1930s is welcome but not essential. Saturday, 6pm. Runs until January 23. Tickets from $25 from moadoph.gov.au
4. Summer Sundaze
Head to the National Arboretum for a lazy Sunday this weekend. Start your morning with a family friendly Summer Sizzle made up of a sausage sizzle, egg and bacon rolls, ice creams and coffee. Summer Session starts from mid-afternoon when Caravan Morrison Mobile Bar starts to serve up Pimm's and Aperol Spritz, alongside beers from Capital Brewing Co. Chicago Charles will perform on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. Summer Sizzle on Sunday from 11am to 2pm. Summer session from 2.30pm to 6pm. National Arboretum. 5. Parkrun
Hundreds turned up to Parkrun at Lake Burley Griffin on Christmas Day. Will the same thing happen on New Year's Day at Lake Ginninderra? Get 2021 up and running with Parkrun from John Knight Memorial Park in Belconnen. First time parkrunners need to register for a Parkrun barcode at parkrun.com.au/ginninderra to record your time. Friday, 8am. John Knight Memorial Park. Free event.
