Vicki Linton's outfit came back from behind to battle out a one-all draw with the Brisbane Roar at Dolphin Oval on Thursday night.
It echoed the heroics of United's last two rounds, having salvaged the result thrice at the death with last-gasp winners.
This time it was Maher who shone for Canberra as they searched for an answer to the Roar's relentless threat, netting an equaliser with a powerful 78th minute effort.
"I don't love the down to the wire thing but considering we were down one-nil to a really tough opponent, to claw it back, hold out and dig deep to secure a point was very admirable for the girls," Linton said.
"With three games in nine days, a few players were spent there and they just put in. We rode our luck to be fair but we'll take that. It means to much to us, it's a well-earned point away from home."

Brisbane hit the scoreboard early via Katrina Gorry's boot to break the deadlock and end their scoring drought, having misfired 42 attempts in two matches.
The veteran midfielder surprised Canberra goalkeeper Sally James with a stunning strike from long-range in the first three minutes of play.
That was the difference at half-time, although the damage could've been worse with Brisbane firing six shots on target to Canberra's zero.
James went on to deny the dominant Roar nine times, keeping Gorry, Emily Gielnik and Isobel Dalton's dangerous assault at bay.
"She was significant in our performance today, player of the match," Linton said of James.
Michelle Heyman came close to scoring two equalisers, with both attempts soaring over the crossbar from mid-range.
Canberra levelled the scores with 12 minutes remaining when Maher sent a left-footed strike from more than 35-yards out into the bottom corner.
"I love my long-range shots, everyone knows that. I had the wind in tide, I knew if I hit it hard enough, hopefully it would go in," Maher told Fox Sports.
"I definitely think we could have poached the win at the end, but Brisbane was quality tonight and could have had their fair share of winning goals too. It was a hard one."
Canberra have a 10-day break before meeting the Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday, January 17.
