AAP understands the 57-year-old Labor leader was driving when he was "T-boned" by a Range Rover in a serious collision in Marrickville on Friday afternoon.
He has been taken to hospital to have precautionary x-rays, and is "badly shaken but OK" a spokesman from his office told AAP.
The other driver was not hurt, AAP understands.
