Police carried out a search of the 67-year-old man's Greenway home on Wednesday and seized the man's computer and hard drive.
It's alleged multiple pictures and videos of child abuse were found.
The man was also alleged to have tried to turn the power off to his home during the search warrant in a bid to prevent police accessing the computer, but was unsuccessful in doing so.
Multiple devices were seized from the home and will undergo digital forensic analysis.
The 67-year-old was granted bail and will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on February 19.
