The Canberra Times has chosen not to name the 30-year-old man because doing so might inadvertently identify the alleged victim.
Police arrested the man on December 14 following an investigation that began in late November when his housemate reported finding the camera.
Investigators seized his electronic equipment and allegedly found that it held 95 files containing intimate images of the woman.
Police said at the time of the arrest that those images had been obtained without the woman's knowledge across a three-week period in July and August 2020.
The man was charged as a result of the investigation with two counts of observing or capturing visual data in an indecent invasion of privacy.
After being released on police bail, he fronted the ACT Magistrates Court for the first time on Monday morning.
During a brief appearance, defence lawyer Sinead Allen entered pleas of not guilty to both charges on the man's behalf.
Magistrate James Stewart continued the 30-year-old's bail and ordered him to return to court on March 1 for a pre-hearing mention.
If found guilty, the man could be jailed for up to two years on each charge.
