Canberrans looking to install battery storage for their home's electricity supply will have more choices, after additional retailers signed on to an ACT government rebate scheme.

Six battery retailers have joined the ACT's next generation energy storage program, which provides subsidies for homes and businesses that set up battery storage.
In the fifth and latest round, ECG Electrical, Solahart, Solar4Life, Solargain, Solarhub and Sunstake joined the program, an increase from two installers that had signed on by the end of the fourth round.

Homes and businesses who sign on for the scheme can receive up to $825 for each kilowatt of sustained peak output.
Since the start of the scheme in 2016, rebates have been handed out to 1600 battery installations across Canberra.
Energy and Emissions Reduction Minister Shane Rattenbury said there had been 7.3 megawatts of storage output produced due to the program.
"This is helping households to save money and contribute to an environmental protection agenda and get the battery industry going to help insulate the grid against high-energy grid days," Mr Rattenbury said.
"There are now more entry points and this will promote more competition."
Mr Rattenbury said the take-up rate for home batteries would steadily increase as prices for batteries came down.
"Up to 36 megawatts of batteries are able to be installed," he said.
