Air Force will mark this special milestone with a number of events across the nation, and locally in Canberra on Wednesday, March 31.
0700-0730 ADFA-led Flag Raising, Commonwealth Place
0800-0845 Warrant Officer of the Air Force Flag Raising, Blamey Square
1030-1130 Queen's Colour Presentation Parade, Government House, Yarralumla (not open to public) This event will include a flypast of four aircraft which will track west to east along Lake Burley Griffin, then proceed north up ANZAC Parade.
1130-1200 Flypast, Lake Burley Griffin The public are absolutely encouraged to get to the lake or a vantage point to see this spectacular flypast. There will be changed traffic conditions around Canberra to ensure the safety of the community.
The time honoured tradition of Air Forces conducting a flypast serves to show respect and commemorate significant events. On this occasion, more than 60 historic and modern aircraft will conduct a spectacular flypast in commemoration of the more than 350,000 men and women who have served in the Air Force, and in particular to the memory of the 11,191 RAAF members who died in the service of Australia. We honour their sacrifice.
1645-1715 Last Post Ceremony, Australian War Memorial
If you are unable to get to the lake or one of the vantage points around Canberra, you can enjoy the flypast through ABC TV's live outside broadcast, commencing at 10am.
