Williams will miss the opening round of the Women's Uni Sevens competition in Sydney this weekend, but will be available for round two in Newcastle.
The 33-year-old will use the tournament to help her prepare for this year's postponed Tokyo Olympics where the Australian team will aim to defend their 2016 gold medal.
"People keep saying is it going to go ahead? As an athlete you can't think that it's not, you have to prepare yourself for the positive side of it and just go 100 per cent because not everyone gets to be in this position," Williams said.
Williams has been impressed by Sevens captain Ella Ryan and was hopeful the Uni Sevens would convince Tess Staines, who hails from Leeton and also plays rugby league, to fully commit to the sport.

"She's electric, if we can hold her in with rugby and not lose her to other sports I think she could be a good prospect for the next Olympics as well," Williams said.
"Coming from the country there's not a lot of opportunity. Sometimes you can see that as a negative since you're the one travelling, stuck in a car.
"I like to tell those country girls to put the spin on it as mental toughness and you're halfway there to getting to the green and gold jersey." Williams will be running an all football codes camp in Canberra on April 3 - Lachlan Bryce
