Coach Dan McKellar has named White to lead the Brumbies for Friday night's clash with the Western Force at Canberra Stadium.
He was forced to dip back into his leadership group, with skipper Allan Alaalatoa still serving a three-match suspension and Tom Cusack out with a shoulder injury.
It's the second time White has led the Brumbies, having captained the side during his first stint with the Super Rugby club when they beat the Melbourne Rebels 39-17 in 2013.
At just 22-years-old, White holds the record for being the youngest player to captain the Brumbies.
Eight years later, McKellar knows the 30-year-old White has what it takes to helm the side come Friday night.
"He's captained the Brumbies before and might've been our youngest captain ever. He's excited about it. The referee will be excited about it as well," McKellar said.
"Not a lot of changes for Whitey he just runs out first."
Alaalatoa and Cusack led the Brumbies to a 3-1 record to start the season, with the club now looking to gain momentum at home ahead of a tough finish on the road.
The round-six clash will be their last match at Canberra Stadium before finals, and the Brumbies are determined to bounce back from their disappointing loss to the Queensland Reds.

"We're certainly not scared about the back end of the season," McKellar said.
The Force also come off a loss, but enter the match with confidence having claimed their first Super Rugby win since 2017 against the NSW Waratahs earlier this month.
"They've got a bit of a spring in their step," he said.
"Nice and physical, [but] the Force has been like that from day one to be honest.
"We expect physicality in a team that has threats across the park and guys we're very familiar with. We'll focus on getting our game right."
