Vicki Linton's fourth-placed finishers will travel to Sydney this weekend for a knockout semi-final showdown against the Sky Blues at Kogarah Oval, and star midfielder Grace Maher believes her side is primed to go one better than Friday's hard-fought nil-all draw in Canberra.
"So much emphasis is going on [the fact] it's finals, anything can happen, Maher said.
"It's finals football, tactics aren't always what wins you games so we're just raring to go.
"We didn't know who our opponent was going to be until last night. At the same time - we know that we had opportunities to win that game, as did Sydney."
Star striker Michelle Heyman hit a post in Friday's thriller against Sydney FC, while Sky Blues striker Remy Siemsen had an early goal ruled out for offside.
Earlier in the season Sydney FC belted Canberra 4-0, and Friday's result will be fresh in the minds of both clubs as United chase their first finals win since December, 2014.
"This is where we want to be, finals football, we really want to take it further and get ourselves some silverware," Maher said.
"It's a really big achievement for the club. Obviously, Canberra being the only team with no men's [A-League] affiliation and we've got a great support base here."

Siemsen said her side's first-placed finish meant nothing heading into the sudden-death semi-final.
"The job's not done and there's still so much to improve on and grow from," Siemsen said.
"We're not going to go into these finals lightly so we're going to be all guns blazing come Monday."
Siemsen highlighted the danger of Heyman, who reclaimed the W-League goal-scoring record from Sam Kerr this season, and has now scored 72 times in the competition.
"She's been a goal-scoring machine all season and she's been a threat up-top so we will be trying to shut down those channels very quickly," Siemsen said.
