The Aussie rocker is heading to Lake George Winery and The Vintner's Daughter with Sarah McLeod and Mahalia Barnes for Chant Du Vin.

Translating to the song of wine, the event brings together the music, wine and tourism industries to create unforgettable experiences throughout the country's wine regions.

"It's just such a cool concept for punters to come into these places, where there are candles and wine and acoustic music playing, so it's pretty special," Temperley says.

"This is the first time I've left Western Australia since March 2019, so that's pretty exciting, and bizarre, because I've spent my whole life getting on planes and going and playing shows, and that just seemed normal.

"Now, suddenly getting on a plane seems very abnormal, but it's amazing. It just you forget how much people need live music as well.

"In this time with all the craziness going on, just going out and seeing a live show just does good things for your soul. And it's pretty easy to forget that. But as soon as you're out there doing it, and you can see how it's affecting everyone, you realise it's important."

As it was for everyone, 2020 was an interesting year for Temperley.

The time allowed for him to do a lot of production and writing work for other acts, as well as host a virtual songwriting program for high school students across the country.

It also saw him and fellow Eskimo Joe bandmates Stuart MacLeod and Joel Quartermain write and record two new songs for the band - Say Something and 99 Ways.

"It was the first time we'd come back together, since our album Wastelands which was 2013," Temperley says.

"It felt like, why not do that in the middle of a pandemic? Why not?

"But it felt really good to put that out and then we've booked ourselves a tour in 2022 - our first proper tour, since releasing that record."

In the meantime, however, Temperley is travelling the country's wine regions with Chant Du Win.

As Temperley says, the event is a chance to hear some Australian music the way it was originally written - acoustically.

"Generally, when I write the songs are an acoustic guitar, and I'll kind of show it to the band and I'll be like, what do you guys think?" he says.

"And they'll be like, cool, and then we start to workshop that into what becomes an Eskimo Joe song. So these are how the song sounded before I presented them to the band, which is nice if you're an Eskies fan."

The Aviary double-decker bus will also feature as part of the event's VIP enclosure where guests can enjoy a selection of premium wines selected by the winemakers. VIP ticket holders will be treated to additional experiences including personal time with the artists and winemakers.

Chant Du Vin will be at the Lake George Winery on May 20 and 21 and at The Vintner's Daughter on May 22 and 23.
