Hundreds of scholarships, worth up to $18,000, are now available to help students from regional and remote areas take up higher education as well as undertake education at a regional university.

The Federal Minister for Regional Education Andrew Gee said the Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships, the Tertiary Access Payment and the Destination Australia scholarships are on offer to "help level the playing field" between country and city students.
"These scholarships are an investment in our regions and in our students from regional communities," Mr Gee said.
"They're about improving education outcomes for country people, and that starts with access to high-quality education and training."
700 positions are available for country students to take up the Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships. Available for any area of study, the scholarship is worth up to $18,000 to help meet the cost of tertiary education.
The government is also funding scholarships worth up to $18,000 for 50 undergraduate creative arts students from regional and remote areas, to assist with university expenses.
As well, the third round of the Destination Australia scholarship program is also now open for education providers to apply for funding to encourage students to study regionally. The program offers scholarships worth up to $15,000 per student a year.
The government is also reminding regional and remote Year 12 school leavers that they can apply for the $5000 Tertiary Access Payment, a relocation payment for students who need to move to study a full-time tertiary course.
In recognition of extra costs for the regional and remote students, the $5000 can go towards essential items such as accommodation costs, textbooks, groceries and bills.
