Police said a member of the public told patrolling officers there was a fight in Garema Place about 1.30am Sunday.
"On arrival, police restrained the man. He freed his arms and began pushing police away from him and swinging his arms at them wildly," they said in a statement.
"While resisting police efforts to restrain him the man struck an officer in the face, puncturing his lower lip and dislodging a tooth."
The 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to the watch house. He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with recklessly inflicting actual bodily harm to a police officer, resisting a public official and fighting in a public place.
