The opening season of the ski season was a busy one for NSW police with 1450 people breathtested during the three-day Operation Snowball in the state's Snowy Mountains region.

Ten vehicles were searched over the long weekend and a number of licensed premises patrolled with a drug-detection dog as thousands of skiers and snowboarders descended on the area with expectations high after a pre-season snowfall.
During one such police patrol inside a Jindabyne licensed premises on Saturday morning, a 27-year-old man was involved in an altercation when approached by a drug dog handler, and he was given a move-on direction.
When the man failed to leave, he was arrested and charged with use offensive language, two counts of resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, and excluded person fail to leave premises when required.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Cooma Local Court on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
Several premises were also issued infringement notices for licensing breaches over the three days.
Monaro Police District Commander, Superintendent John Klepczarek, said police will conduct similar operations throughout the 2021 snow season.
"Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated at any time within the district," Supt Klepczarek said.
"Police will have a strong emphasis on ensuring everyone visiting the snow has a safe and enjoyable holiday."
Meanwhile, NSW police have charged a woman with seven offences, including drug driving, following a serious crash near Queanbeyan on January 9 this year in which a front seat passenger lost her leg.
The arrest followed the roll-over of a black Toyota Hilux travelling north on Captains Flat Road, Primrose Valley, about 30km south-east of Queanbeyan.
The collision ejecting the 29-year-old female front seat passenger whose leg was so badly injured in the crash that it required amputation. She also suffered internal injuries.
A second passenger, a 37-year-old man, did not require treatment at the scene but later attended the same hospital with rib fractures.
After a length investigation, police arrested the Toyota driver on Monday at her home in Rossi this week.
She was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station charged and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm-drive under the influence, cause bodily harm by wilful neglect in charge of motor vehicle, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), drive with middle range blood alcohol content, alter concentration alcohol in blood before sampled, and drive vehicle with illicit drug present in blood.
She was granted conditional bail to appear in Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday, 12 July 2021.
