Temperatures weren't quite low enough for the rare snow to stick to the ground in the city itself but people were thrilled.
Twitter was aflurry with enthusiasm, "I'm still excited," tweeted Daniel O'Connell on Saturday. "One of the little joys of living in this beautiful city," chirped Kim Fraser.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster David Wilke said there was a chance the snow could return again early in the week but it was hard to say with certainty this far out.
"There's a chance that we could get some light snow in the same way that we got with this last event on Tuesday and Wednesday," Mr Wilke said.
"One to keep an eye on."
Monday morning will dip below freezing in the morning but warm up to a top of 10 degrees.
Tuesday is expected to be another wet day with light winds with an outside chance the city will again see snow flurries.
"As we head into Tuesday and Wednesday, that's when we start to see showers picking up," Mr Wilke said.
"There's certainly a good chance of snow in the Brindabellas and the ACT will get snow, I'm sure.
"Whether or not we get it in the city will always have a question mark around it."
Saturday's snow relieved the heavy rain of the night before, though the forecasters warned that small hail couldn't be ruled out.
They are not expected to be as big as the ones which seriously dented vehicles last year.
Eight millimetres of rain fell in the 24 hours to 9am on Saturday, with half of that overnight.
This is wet but not out of the ordinary for the time of year, according to forecaster Jordan Notara.
Mountain Franklin Road in Namadgi National Park was closed at Chalet car park due to inclement weather.
Corin Road is now open only to 4WDs until further notice by Transport Canberra.
The ski resorts were benefiting from snow. Fallen snow was reported at Corin Forest Ski Resort.
Snow was forecast on land above 700 metres on Saturday, including the Brindabellas. The likelihood of a fall of snow on Mount Ginini was high, according to the meteorologist.
Some ACT residents even claimed to see "snow flurries" atop high-rise buildings in Civic on Friday afternoon.
