The next generation of Canberra's Matildas hopefuls believe the side can go all the way to a podium finish in Tokyo.

The national side will kick off their Olympic campaign on Wednesday night over New Zealand.
Canberra United Academy's Sofia Christopherson was keeping a close eye on Sam Kerr to learn her scoring ways but she is already well on her way, as her side's leading goalscorer.
"Kerr's always been my favourite player, and a role model to me growing up," the 17-year-old said.
"I'm also looking forward to watching Kyra Cooney-Cross, she had a phenomenal season in the W-League this year. She's a creative player, and very smart, so if Sam and her can link up, it would be amazing."

Similarly United goalkeeper Chloe Lincoln is excited to see what new recruit Teagan Micah can do between the sticks for the Matildas.
"Under Tony's [Gustavsson] new leadership, and his new guidance, I think the players have an opportunity to really bring about something great. And I think medals are a given. We can do it," she said.
"It's great to see some younger players being chosen. It's inspiring, especially those who are in lockdown at the moment who maybe are struggling a bit not being able to play. I think it's really good for them to be able to see what these young players are doing and see what the Matilda's can do."
Fifteen-year-old Nikita Perry has her eyes on young guns Ellie Carpenter and Mary Fowler during the Olympics.
"I've always loved seeing [Carpenter] play. Her style of play is amazing and she brings energy to the game every time," she said.
"I'm also looking forward to seeing Mary Fowler because she's new to the team and I'm sure that'll be a great experience for her, but it's also good to see Paige Satchell in the New Zealand team from Canberra United."
The Matildas face NZ at 9.30pm, before their next match against Sweden on Saturday night at 6.30pm.
